Notes

Torque and energy share the dimension N·m, but they are not interchangeable — 1 N·m of torque is not 1 joule of work. Factors here are exact by definition (NIST SP 811 App. B): g₀ = 9.80665 m/s², 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg, 1 in = 0.0254 m — so 1 lbf·ft = 1.3558179483314004 N·m and 1 kgf·m = 9.80665 N·m exactly. “ft·lb”, “lb·ft” and “lbf·ft” all mean the same unit here; “kg·m” is treated as kgf·m.
